EFSTH

It’s great to hear about Humanity First’s (HF) ongoing support for the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH), formerly RVTH. Since 2014, HF has played a crucial role in strengthening healthcare in The Gambia through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that allows specialists, consultants, and medical equipment to be sent to different departments of EFSTH. This initiative not only enhances the hospital’s capacity to handle more complex cases locally but also provides valuable training opportunities for Gambian doctors.

Notably, since 2022, HF has increased the frequency of medical missions, sending doctors from the UK every six months instead of the previous annual visits. This increased engagement has likely contributed significantly to improving healthcare delivery and saving more lives. Such collaborations are vital in ensuring that The Gambia’s main referral hospital continues to grow in expertise and service delivery.
